Problem of other minds: fundamental diiculty we have in perceiving the consciousness of others: people judge minds according to the capacity for experience and agency. Phenomenology: how things seem to the conscious person in their understanding of mind and behavior. Mind-body problem: the issue of how the mind is related to the brain and body: ren descartes mind afected the body through the pineal gland. Consciousness has four basic properies: intenionality: being directed toward an object, unity: resistance to division, the ability to integrate informaion from all of the body"s senses into one coherent whole. Divided atenion across all senses: selecivity: capacity to include some objects but not others. Dichoic listening: task in which people wearing headphones hear diferent messages presented to each ear. Focus on message must hear don"t hear a change from english to german.
