Document Summary

A representative sample represents the important characteristics of the sample. A non representative (biased) sample does not represent these important characteristics participation rates. Cooperation rate- the percentage of people who participant out of all of those who were contacted. Response rate- percentage of the entire sampling frame that participates in the research. Social desirability bias (even though its con dential they will lie) Misremembering (say it was under a year ago but happened longer ago) selecting the sample probability sampling. Every member of the population has a chance of being sampled. Inferences about the population can be made non probability sampling. Easier and less expensive probability sampling simple random sampling. Every member of the sampling frame has an equal chance of being selected strati ed random sampling. Sampling frame divided into groups (based on demographic characteristics) Random sampling applied to each group cluster sampling. These units or clusters are then randomly sampled.
