Youth criminal jusice act prevenion: the need to address the root causes of crime, support youth, encourage community eforts. Meaningful consequences for youth crime: the need for speciic prevenion. In canada, jury trials are not used in juvenile court. Youth cannot be tried in adult court but they can, in certain circumstances, receive an adult sentence. Young ofenders act replaced by young criminal jusice act. People struck down harper"s tough on crime policy. The onus on the accused is unconsituional because it violates the charter principle of fundamental jusice and is also an afront to a century old system that holds young people diferently accountable for their crime. Young people are enitled to a presumpion of diminished moral blameworthiness or culpability from the fact that they are less mature. Youth crime increasing: harper is tough on crime because he thinks youth crime is increasing, however, many argue that is not the case.
