Course overview: definitions and general issues; science in. Intervening in mental health problems and mental disorders. The class focuses on empirically supported therapies. Not teaching you how to do therapy. Week 2: est (empirically supported treatments) & evidence-based practice. June 13th: assignment due , final exam review, student presentations, in class participation (5%) must. Assign due at the beginning of class. Give ta 2 weeks to post grades. In class activities, view it as review for exam and assignment. What comes to your mind when you think of psychotherapy. Useful for most population esp youth and children. Apply clinical methods from psychological principles in purpose to modify people"s behavior, cognitions, emotions and other personal characteristics where participants deem desirable. Psychotherapy: often seen as time consuming, expensive. Things have to be worse to be better (can"t hold it any longer, have to seek help) Did not feel it was problematic/ they have problem.
