Described theory called child sexual abuse accommodation syndrome (csaas) - wherein described 5 components characterizing sexually abused children. Did not present csaas as diagnostic tool for sexual abuse. But this is how it was used for many years in some clinical practices & in. Expert evidence based on csaas had been accepted as evidence of sexual abuse as several court cases in canada & us late as 1992. More recently, canadian courts have declared csaas to be theory that has no diagnostic power & ne that has been debunked. According to csaas, there are 5 components characterizing csa victims. For variety of reasons & in variety of ways, child required to keep abuse a secret. May be given power to preserve family/destroy family.
