Risk assessment, management issues & treatment in ipv. Defining risk: what is risk, a hazard that is by definition unknown and can only be predicted with uncertainty. Defining risk assessment: what is a risk assessment, process of gathering information about people to make decisions regarding their risk, look at what they"ve done in the past, what they are currently doing, and predict the future. Interviews with collateral informants: close friends, teachers, family, victim interview, don"t do one with minors, psychological testing, clinical file information, other records, criminal record, school records, healthcare records. Goals of risk assessment: overarching goals of risk assessment procedures, consistent/ replicable results, prescriptive, recommendation of what to do with the person, open/ transparent, very clear, how you came to that conclusion. Purpose of risk assessment: predicting vs. preventing, predict if they will do it again, prevent it from happening again.
