There is the common notion here that all societies are becoming more modern and: all societies are equally able to engage in the world. Many different ideas, but i will outline 3 major sets of ideas: european social thinkers change over time, how do we account for social differences, between french, unilinear: must pass through several stages. How do humans evolve or royal society, and what were called (cid:498)african bushmen(cid:499: some inspired by charles darwin. Many equated european technology and culture with modernity.
