Nature: human behaviour depends on the functioning of the body and heredity plays a part in biological traits, intelligence, artistic aptitude, and personality. Nurture: how one behaves towards another is learned not instinctual. Our behaviours, personalities, and upbringing are socially constructed-- influenced by a range of social and cultural factors. Surrounded and influenced by real or imagined others, who constitute a person"s social environment. Self: consists of your ideas and attitudes about who you are. We interact w/ others, they gesture and react to us; we imagine how we appear to them. We then judge how others evaluate us. A self-concept or set of feelings and ideas about who we are. Our self in constructed through how we think others view us. You interact with others --> others evaluate and react to you --> we dev. Proposed the following concepts in self dev. I: subjective and impulsive aspect of the self that is present from birth.
