Inequality is not neutral some people have more power and others have less. Inequality means that there are oppressors and oppressed. Ideology, values, beliefs, and culture are tools to enforce inequality. Irony people who have power have the ability to influence these. The way rich people get poor people to think and behave in a way that will keep the rich rich and the poor poor. Related to false consciousness a mindset that makes inequality less obvious. There is a belief that people who are on the bottom did something to deserve to be there. We can"t just change who"s on top, we have to change culture, the way people think if you want to get rid of inequality. Major corporations are a part of a hegemonic culture. The gov"t is trying to create workers for corporations. We are not producing thinkers, we"re producing workers.
