Oecology -> the branch of sociology that studies the environmental spacing and interdependence of people and institutions, as in rural or in urban settings. Ecologist, oecologist, n. ecological, oecological , adj. ecologically, oecologically, adv. It is very thinly and sporadically wooded. It is covered with high grasses in the rains. It is traversed by large rivers which flood annually. When the rain cease and the rivers fall it is subject to severe drought. The nuer need to have a mixed pastoral-horticultural economy. Need grain and fish to supplement milk and meat diet. Do not stay in one place bc floods cause them to seek higher ground. Nuer pov = their land is great and believe it is the best for cattle. European pov = nuerland is not good, hard on ppl and animals to survive. These characteristics interact with one another and compose an environmental system which directly conditions nuer life and influences their social structure.
