Between now and 2031, foreign born population could increase 4x faster than the rest of the population. By 2031, nearly none-half of canadians aged 15 and over would be foreign born. The proportion of foreign born in total population would increase from 20% to 25% By 2031, 47% of second generation canadians will belong to a minority group. Canada could have between 11. 4 million and 14. 4 million persons belonging to a visible minority group by 2031- the rest of the population is projected to increase by 12% South asian and chinese will grow the fastest. It is the general acceptance of immigrants as part of canadian society, other countries thinking we have a good approach to multiculturalism, inter-racial marriages that do not provide social conflict etc. Something to be proud of- but there are problems. Differences occur at all levels institutional, interpersonal. Section 27 of charter mandates canada recognize the importance of multiculturalism.
