Document Summary

Plant then overwinters & gibberellin induces rapid elongation of stem and flower. Starch is broken down to sugar, causing ethylene to accumulate out of embryo to aleurone layer. Aleurone layer contains amylase to break down starch. The amylase is mobilized by gibberellin acid to reak down starch in the endosperm to break it down to glucose. Glucose then used to fuel growth of the plant. We see this in the action of (cid:498)bolting(cid:499) rapid elongation of stem induced by gibberellin. Rosette plants (ring of leaves around base of stem) rosette is made the first year. Grapes growing stems as a fungus prevention adaptation. Seeds outer layer of endosperm referred to as aleurone layer. Ethylene gas exuded out into the environment. Ripens fruit positive feedback loop causes more & more ethylene. Doesn"t happen in all fruits, but bananas, apples, peaches are examples. Cytokinin family of hormones involved in cell division & dna replication.
