Around 1750 bc the palaces on the crete island were destroyed, no evidence of invasions. Minoan second palace period, c. 1750-1450 bc: cnossus palace, 1700 bc. Large open courtyard (coninuity from 1st palace period) Bathrooms with plumbing (earliest in the world) Light wells, sky lights leing natural light pass through and air circulaion. Huge storage capacity: grain, olive oil, wine, metal, wood. Inventories coninued to be kept on clay tablets in linear a script. Not a lot of foriicaion around this area. Minoans described as the power of the sea, controlled the waters there were no external threats: strong trade relaions with egypt and the near east, not compeiive trade. Linear a has also been found in the sicgladys. Many scholars say there are no internal threats because there are no foriicaion: there was a single minoan state, run from the largest palace (cnossus)
