Document Summary
Evolution = descent(some kind of genetic information coming down through time) Basics of genetics- biological evolution is dynamic, it"s not fixed. Genetic info is transmitted from 1 generation to another. Genetics: study of means by which instruction needed to grow, repair and run organisms is transmitted. Gene- section of dna, codes for a protein. Chromosome- thread of genes in cell nuclei. Locus- where 1 gene is on a chromosome. Genotype(actual collection of allele in every individual) vs phenotype(expressed form of allele) Dominant(allele that can express itself) vs recessive( cant express itself unless paured with 1 alike allele) Punnett square: r-allele for wrinkled pea, r- allele for smooth pea. Genetics (complications) linkage- genes inherited together since they"re on the same chromosome. Pliotropic traits- multiple effects of 1 gene. Current environmental conditions select- which sets of allele are passed down. Variation within species- variants are adapted to their living conditions in which they live.
