Imagery: representation of objects, feelings, or ideas, either literally or through the use of figurative language. Examples of similes: i saw night close down on the earth like a great dark wing . Metaphor: a figure of speech in which a word or phrase denoting one kind of object or action is used in place of another to suggest a likeness or analogy between them. Symbol: something that strands for or suggests something else by reason of relationship, association, convention, or accidental resemblance, especially, a visible sign of something invisible.
