Printing not invented until the late 1500s. Oral (repeating over and over again) culture. Hand writing in speaking to oneself and handwriting. 85-95% of the people could not read (hence not a lot of copies were made of writing) Pictures from sounds of words from someone reading to someone. No authors until 14th century, don"t know the authors, no titles. You could only learn how to read and write if you were christian. Western christian is the only church discussed in this course, it is powerful and rich. Account of the crucifixion of jesus christ. Cross has all the emotions, fears, and worries.
