Terms we may need to know for quiz two (look up in book): pixels, resolution, aperture, paint by light, oblique lighting. Order of documentation: video, photos, notes, sketch. Requires constant assessment and decision making by the crime scene examiner. Police officers responding to a crime scene should treat it as active until proven otherwise (known as clearing the scene ). Boundaries of crime scene need to be established and marked (crime scene tape, patrol vehicles, uniform members). Establish asap a crime scene log at point of entry/exit to scene. Restrict access to investigation team members only. Do not alter scene (eat, drink, litter, use washroom, turn on lights). Lead forensic officer and other team members will evaluate scene by completing a walk through. This allows them to: get an overview of the scene. Start with video followed by overall photography of the scene. Make notes as you go along (don"t fall behind).
