Scientific method: approach to acquiring knowledge in the natural sciences: 1: formulate a hypothesis, form predictions (how can hypothesis be tested?, data collection and analysis. Induction: the process of deriving general principles from particular facts or instances: get slide from blackboard. Francis bacon (1561-1626: scientists should be disinterested observers, collect observations without prejudice or preconception, multiple observations lead to emerging patters that can provide truths about nature , slides. September 14th 2015: this view was built on big paradigms like newtons law of mechanics. Gay marriage, climate change, racism, slavery, string theory, shift in society. Modern scientific method: scientists do not always try to disprove their theories, there is always a scientific community willing to disprove emerging theories, slides. Language: error and mistake they are used interchangeably in law.
