November 21: organized crime required reading: chapters 16 & 17 (linden, 2016). Organized crime: how crimes are carried out and by the ultimate goal of these crimes. The commissions and europol set out 11 traits of criminal organization must have 6 or more to be. Deemed an orginzated crime: more than 2 people, each with own appointed tasks. For a period of time: using some form of control. Suspected of the commission of serious criminal offences: operating at an international level, using violence for intimidation, using commercial structures, engaged in money laundry, exerting influences, determined by the pursuit of profit and or power. A systemic patter to the relationship of the offenders. Continuing enterprise last beyond the life of current members (hells angels) Motivation politics, religion, or desire to change society. Illegal activity committed for finical or other material benefits. Tactics to support commercial activities: corruption, violence etc.
