Exam: 5 long answer, 8 short answer, 20 definitions. We needed to learn to deal with death: why longhouses are split down the middle, separate sides help the other side in times of grief. Says all have families we are tied to particular places: we have to protect our families, your world keeps expanding meeting new people until elderhood. Every baby already has a given life plan. They try to immediately tie the baby to the earth. Naming ceremonies: name is affirmed, people given responsibilities to help, name and life is told to all of earth in the long house, because the longhouse stands for all of earth. Longhouse: roof is bottom of the sky world, doors along the sun"s path (east/west, floor is earth. Everything in life depends on each other to survive. Spirituality is not religion (cid:312) ancestors (cid:313) spirit (cid:315) earth (cid:314) coming generations. We can work for the continuation of life or against it.
