Health information technology is important to improve providers performance, better communication between patients and providers, and safer patient care. Nurse leaders are essential to changing health care. Important to appreciate the leader, followers, and context of the situation. Important qualities for a leader to have to grow and learn: vision, courage, and humility. Co-missioning = must not only have a vision or mission but a way of measuring the outcomes as well: help to improve future outcomes. Nurses need to focus on excellence and cost-effectiveness. Must have clearly identified responsibilities of different levels of nurses. Hidden within total disorganization is a pattern of order. Nurses are to create a culture willing to accept change and use innovative and creative ideas which will allow nurses to be leaders in this time of chaos. Theory is a part of complexity science.
