The worst kind of person, unlike philosopher ruler. Most unjust person, soul torn by desires. Represents, copies, reproduces, represents something outside itself. Plato believes that it is bad, condemning art in general. Senses only put you in touch with appearances. The bed in your dormroom is less real than platonic idea of bedhood. Painter comes along and paints picture of bed. When painting a bed, you paint the bed as it looks to him from a p. o. v. Copy of a copy of the real thing.
