PSYC 1020H Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Paraphilia, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Habituation
Document Summary
Evoking a symptom of nausea (with a drug) with a novel food can create immediate classical conditioning. If you pair a bell with meat to create a cr, then turning on a light with the bell a second time with make the ucs to become cs. You can also pair the two conditioned stimulus without the ucs to create cr. Conditioned responses will decrease with the more stimulus/increase in use. Blocking occurs when an additional us is associated with cs that already is paired with a cr. Spontaneity of not using the ns will illicit a response and makes conditioning effective. We take a picture of a monkey, every time we take a picture he gets with juice and the next time he does not. The monkey will go for the juice the third time if a picture is taken. Classical has the other end basically not participating. In operant the animal needs to engage in their environment.
