Document Summary
Sensation is the energy to code the human brain, perception is how we interpret our sensations. There are many senses, more than five. Sense of time, balance, senses associated with pressure (digestion for ex. ) Physical stimuli can be observed in frequency and amplitude. Wave lengths decrease in frequency as colors move between 400 nm to 800 nm. When adjusted, changes in amplitude give light that let us see. Change in intensity height of wavelengths can propagate away from source and travel extreme distances. The absolute threshold is the minimum stimulation needed to detect a particular stimulus 50% of the time. Things below the threshold are considered subliminal. The just noticeable difference (jnd) describes the intensity or quantity of a stimulus must change in order for a person to sense the change. Typically the jnd needs 5% added to be affective. 100 g would only be distinguishable from 100 g if adding a jnd of 5 g.
