Rem sleep and nrem (stage i and ii) Two distinct parasomnias occur in slow wave sleep. Transition from rem to slow wave is approx an hour. Occurs in 15% of children between 5 12 years. Arousal needs to be sudden which can cause disorientation. Accompanies about 50% of cases of children with night terrors.
