Placed in the vagina for 21 days; removed for 7. Needs less because its directly in the right spot. Side effects the same as pills & patch. Most effective if begun within 12 to 24 hours. Cannot be delayed longer than 120hours after unprotected intercourse. Approved for use without prescription in may 2008. Available to women who cannot take combination pills.
