The five basic elements of cooperative learning are: positive interdependence, face-to-face interaction, individual accountability, social skills and group processing. Student groups are small, often consisting of two to six members. Groups is heterogeneous with respect to student characteristics. Group members share the various roles and are interdependent in achieving the group learning goal. The results of cooperative learning illustrates that students who have opportunities to work collaboratively, learn quicker and more efficiently, have greater retention, and feel more positive about the learning experience. Collaborative learning refers to an instruction method in which learners at various performance levels work together in small groups toward a common goal. Small group work is one way of ensuring active participation of students . Organizing students in heterogeneous cooperative learning groups at least once a week has a significant effect on learning .
