(multiple choice or fill in blank: retribution, prevention/deterrence, rehabilitation, restoration, incapacitation. Does not address harm reduction or prevention. Goals of punishment rehabilitation: helping offenders become law-abiding members of society, beginnings in quaker beliefs of reform, solitary reflection and repentance. Correctional institutions should not just be warehouses: place to change the soul of the person. Solitary confinement and silence, harsh discipline, rigorous work schedule. What does rehabilitation look like today: supports and services to address the risks and needs of offenders, supervision during reintegration into the community.
