Document Summary

It was facing challenges that no other socialist had to deal with, as it was the first country to survive with it. The socialist regime had to figure out how they would or wouldn"t relate to the rest of the world. Marx and engels had nothing to say on international policies. The idea was that the world would carry on these ideals, and international politics would suddenly be less important. Lenin tried to expand marxism, even before the revolution with his book imperialism, written in 1916, in which he tried to bring in marxism into modern times. He also tried to explain wwi in marxist terms. He argues that imperialism was the highest stage of capitalism; monopolies and fin ace capitols ruled the entire world. It brought the rest of the world into capitalist countries. Lenin modified theory in that e argued the capitalists were opposed by the working class people and the colonial people that they exploited.
