Discrimination occurs when we treat people who are similar in different way or sometimes, when we treat people who are different in similar ways. (kimmel and holler, 2012, p 217) Employers are not allowed to set the requirements for a job based on stereotypical gendered characteristics. This is more subtle, and it is a pervasive mechanism that maintains gender inequality. Women"s and men"s concentration in different occupations, industries, jobs, and levels in work place hierarchies.
