Culture: culture is the complex whole which includes knowledge, belief, arts, morals, law, custom, and any other capabilities and habits acquired by man as a member of society - tylor. General phenomenon for all of humanity that was different from our biological/ physical characteristics: components. Culture is learned: enculturation (process of social interaction through which people learn and acquire their culture) Culture is shared: consists of the shared practices and understandings within a society (not shared equally by all members) A cultural group within a larger culture; often having different beliefs or interests from those of the larger culture : symbols in culture. Arbitrary (no inherent reason/logic in referring to cultural of philosophical phenomena or language with a particular set of words) Arbitrary symbol: sign that seems to be logically unrelated to the object it is supposed to represent.
