Lectures 29&30 // march 30, april 1 2016. Film focuses on anthropological pracices as a challenge by using the studies of the yanomami tribe, yanomamo o o. They are an indigenous tribe that live in the forest. One of the only tribes that is untouched by modernizaion/outside inluence. Live in the same way as our ancestors . Opening scenes are yanomami people saying that they don"t want anything to do with anthropologists o. The yanomamo naives became represented as the idealisic, innocent, noble-savages o o. They were seen as happy, friendly peoples who lived in the forest. This was not true, they were sill engaged in tribal warfare and 40% of the male populaion had commited a murder. Yanomamo didn"t seem to be lacking in resources, so in the irst book publicaion, the author was careful not to assign a reason for the warfare o o. Speculated that they were ighing over women, inidelity, etc.
