Her father was teaching natural science, anatomy and botany. Ruysch was married to a painter, her husband specialized in portraits. Vanitas elements come out through the leaves! Popularity of these paintings because of what they evoked in the viewer: the ideas of exploration, and the economic prosperity that came from these explorations! Popularity explained by a number of points: explained in textbook entire page, botany emerges as a natural science because of explorations, people were bring back samples from other places. Study, systematization and cataloguing helped expand their understanding.
