Angiosperms:
Just one phylum: Anthophyta (antho=flower)
Make up vast majority of seed plants
Includes smallest and tallest seed plants
The Reproductive Adaptations of Angiosperms:
Angiosperms are seed plants with reproductive structures called flowers and fruits
They are the most widespread and diverse of ALL plants
Flowers:
Monoecious: male and female flowers on same individual plant
Dioecious: male and female flowers on different individuals’ plants
Sepals and petal = non-reproductive
Stamens (filament + anther): MALE

Stamens (filament + anther): male: microspores male gametophyte sperm (inside pollen grain) Carpels (stigma, style, ovary): female: megaspores female gametophyte egg. ** for the life cycles, write out the stages in order and indicated whether dipolid or haploid. Mature ovary containing seeds: the container part of angiosperm, mature ovary may look different. Fruit protects dormant seeds and aids dispersal: by catching wind, by catching / attracting animals. We depend on angiosperms for most of our food: 80% of calories consumed in world from 6 angiosperm species. Every part is edible: seeds, fruit, leaves, roots, tubers (underground stems, flowers.
