Sam spade taking a taxi across town. First shot is of him hiring a cab, then the shot dissolves to a close up of a car wheel, and then once again the shot dissolves to the taxi pulling up to the curb in a neighborhood. The acion is taken across town while maintaining the illusion of linear ime. Two shots aimed at 180 degrees from each other, used to show two people speaking with each other. Provides coninuity in the ediing of the conversaion. When humphrey bogart is speaking with kasper gutman, and scenes where eie is speaking with spade. It is used to immerse the audience in their conversaion. Shot a is someone looking at something of screen, then it cuts to shot b, which is what the person was looking at. In neither shot are both the looker and the object present. Example, eie looking in a direcion, and it cuing to spade siing at his desk.
