Document Summary

The illuminaion of the set and the actors. It is the way that light is organized and controlled for a shot or a scene to get a desired efect. Light that is naturally available for use on the locaion or set, for example sunlight for exterior shots and ariicial light a part of a natural seing. The less light is available, the faster the ilm speed is required. Distributes the ariicial light and controls the available light to simulate an explicit source of it. Stresses visual values, and is not related to concerns about source simulaion. Hard lighing creates clearly deined shadows, crisp textures and sharp edges. Uses three light sources per shot (key light, ill light, backlight) Creates low contrast between brighter and darker areas. Key and ill lights are approximately the same quality. The key light is more intense than the ill light.
