Components: awareness of your own cultural worldview, attitude towards cultural di erences, knowledge of di erent cultural practices, cross-cultrual skills. Cultural competency linked to our personal values- inclusion, valuing di erence. We"re often afraid of saying or doing something inappropriate or disrespectful. Encounters; seeking out cultural encounters and exposing oneself in a minority position. Critically asses the implications to your program plan of the characteristics of the program participants. Make clear links between participant characteristics and the program design; explain why you made the choices you made. The way in which people perceive, interact with, and respond to the learning environment. Comprises cognitive (reasoning), a ective (emotional), and physiologic (physical) factors.
