When reporting test results, conditions that in uence test results are also reported: Specimen is gripped b/w one xed clamp and one moveable clamp. Pulled by moveable clamp at a steady rate of extension. Load increases over the test period but at a variable rate. Speed of test/rate of extension can be altered so that the time-to-break can be controlled. Bottom clamp is driven downward at a constant rate of travel. Specimen and upper clamp also move downward until load is too great for specimen to lift. Rate of loading and extension are both variable over the test period. Rate of travel of the bottom clamp cannot be altered; time-to-beak cannot be controlled. Load applied to specimen by an inclined plane. Platform inclined and carriage moves, applying a load at a constantly increasing rate. Extension increases over the test period but as a variable rate. Rate of loading (incline of the plane) can be altered so that time-to-break is controlled.
