Located in small, urban communities that o ered a stable labour- supply and rivers ideal suited for water- generated power and dyeing/ nishing. Industry began from manufacturing yarns and fabrics from natural bres. Canada"s textile industry has declined in size over the past decade. 60% b/w 2004 and 2011 from 52,000 to 20,500. Panically due to the decrease in demand for textiles used in manufacturing apparel. Can be grouped as belonging to traditional and non-traditional textile markets. Traditional textiles are designed for apparel and accessories, household, furnishings and oor coverings. Non-traditional markets are de ned as technical textiles and other value-added textiles. The other value added textiles concept refers to traditional textile products to which advanced technological characteristics have been added. Advance sport apparel, antimicrobial textiles, special protective textiles, easy care textiles and ultra comfortable textiles.
