The shores of mckernan lake (which isn"t here anymore) , lots of indigenous people lived nearby. Because mckernan was trying to reclaim this area. Bought out streetcar lines and trashed them. lol ok whatever. Edmonton is known to have one of the best agricultural land. A lot of farm area near north sasketwwan river. Not just an area that is needed for farmland but teh city of edmonton also wants ti put people in the area. Pressure on these areas that were not residentially or commercially developed to be turned into those. The area by the river (sun star nurseries) This while area was proposed a few years ago. Not a good job of preserving it. Since 1982 most was lost for urban development.
