Combines both the art and craft of music: famous brands include gibson, martin, fender, rickenbacker (first brand to mass-produce electric guitars), etc. Electrification could be heard above the drums, brass, etc. Anglo-american dominance over international popular music post-wwii: originated in the late 40s/early 50s, used a boogie woogie rhythm (grounded in a piano-based rhythm) with emphasis on backbeat, new opportunities for dancing, sped up blues rhythms.
