Listening to body sounds through a stethoscope. Diaphragm is used for high pitched sounds. Higher quality stethoscopes have a mechanism to switch the bell and diaphragm to pick up sound. Collect urine at the start of the exam. Done on exam table or held by parent. Leave diaper on as long as possible. Leave most uncomfortable assessments until the end. Offer choices (e. g. want to listen to mommy"s heart first?)
