Mental health act of alberta describes the process of searching for and taking a person into a designated facility by a physician enacted to ensure safeguards. Must still have the same 3 criteria. 2 doctors independently examine the individual and complete an admission certificate within. 24 hours of arrival both admission certificates must include all the facts that lead to doctor to believing the patient meets the 3 criteria to be formal patient these certificates are valid for one month renewal certificate. Community treatment order (cto) for people with severe and persistent mental health disorders who are going to experience relapses with community supports adults, minors, formal and voluntary patients. 2 physicians need to independently check the 3 criteria not every province has a community treatment order. Form 12: request for panel hearing (automatic at 6 months) Form 11: certificate of incapacity to make treatment decisions/incompetence not permanent.
