Used to describe process of seeking out and raking a person to a designated facility for examination by a physician. Community treatment orders (cto) where the patient has to take their medication. Frequently happens when patient is in community with mental health disorder and often have depot shots. Certified/formal patients needs to re-evaluated in 30 days. Cert 1 is evaluated by physician and psychiatrist usually in er, good for 24 hours, re- assess and if signed again, valid for 30 days. Criteria to become a formal patient under the mha: Likely to cause harm to that person or others, or to suffer substantial mental or physical deterioration or serious physical impairment and. Unsuitable for admission to a facility other than as a formal patient (grey nun, royal. Means a substantial disorder of thought, mood, perception orientation or memory that grossly impairs judgement behaviour, capacity to recognize reality, or ability to meet the ordinary demands of life.
