Document Summary
People have always known that things fall, but until isaac newton nobody had gotten close to finding the reason as to why. Newton, although he was never able to answer the question in his lifetime, He was interested in the signal that seemed to exist wondered why things know" to always fall between objects and the earth that always caused objects to fall to the ground. Essentially, newton was looking to describe what exactly gravity" was. Before newton, galileo had proposed that all objects fall at the same rate . All in all, newton"s ideas about gravity could be condensed into three laws: All objects fall at the same rate: . , and since we know that all objects (in a vacuum) will accelerate at the same rate no matter the differences in their mass, we can conclude that gravitational force is directly proportional to mass. The formula for acceleration due to gravity is a = f .
