PSYCO335 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Rhodopsin, Ciliary Muscle, Photopic Vision
Document Summary
How we see: light enters the eye and reaches the retina. Light is a particle moving through space and wave, they are visible to us. E. g a snake can see heat giving off by bodies. Light has a wavelength different colours and intensity brightness of light(physical properties) Focuses the light on the back of the eyeball. Cornea and lens goal is to make light focuses to hit the light in the back. (retina) Lets in the light , black circle that changes the diameter. Dilates (gets bigger because theres no light, and you have to see better) and constricts (sharp image, not letting as much light, gets smaller) Iris is the colourful part, behind it has muscles that control the aperture of the pupil. Behind the pupil, and focuses light into the retina. At rest, it looks like a cylinder. When you focus close or far, you are adjusting the tension in the eye to change the shape. (ciliary muscles)
