Document Summary
Chapter 3 text: graph a visual representation of the occurrence of a behaviour over time; after instances of the target behaviour are recorded (on a data sheet or otherwise), the information is transferred to a graph. Research designs: to determine whether the tmt (independent variable) was responsible for the observed change in the target behaviour (dependent variable) and to rule out the possibility that extraneous variables caused the behaviour to change. Chapter 3 text: ab design does not demonstrate a functional relationship because tmt is not. Abab research design: may not be ethical to remove tmt in the second baseline if the behaviour is dangerous (self-injurious, must be fairly certain that the level of the behaviour will reverse when tmt is withdrawn. When tmt is implemented at different times, we say that tmt is staggered over time (multiple-baseline-across- subjects design)
