The idea of liberalism is based on liberty and freedom: original intention. Negative liberty: looking at the state as the power that restricts individuals from cornering other individuals. Positive liberty: the govt. tions ensures the freedom of individuals in that society. Republican liberty: ensuring that there is no imposition of the state as well. New liberals: more focus on civil and personal liberty. Rulers should be both feared and loves. Much more emphasis on state in organizing and setting rules of the society. Liberal democracy and capitalism are often used interchangeably. Participating as a part of an organization. The idea of lobbying having an in uence in the government comes from this. Seen more in local levels of government/ organization. More participation of government in private life.
