These goals, will come with certain trade-offs some being environmental trade-offs: like the effect on waterways community decline: where they need less people are replaced by machine, so labour force decline, causing community decline. Productivism: international market, capital/ finance, innovations. Post-productivism: the community, producer, and individuals trying to do different things causing agency: achieving other goals outside of productivism alone. To be competitive with the international market, you need to be large-scale. Could be pushed for a number of reasons (ex: the producers, or the consumers, or the government, may be pushing this) Reconnect with consumers (producers are trying to reconnect with local consumers because there seems to be a disconnect between these two groups) Establishing criteria for sustainability (large-scale sustainability initiatives involves measuring") Environmental stewardship (producers are doing more than environmental stewards) Producers who are using small-scale technology, and raising animals in very non intensive ways.
