Norbert elias describes the emergence of modern manners between 1300-1600, based on data of sales of cutlery or manuals of manners. Elias suggested that increasing the complexity of society means people have to behave more predictable in order to ensure social stability. The rise of manners helped stabilize society, and establish coherent national culture. Socialization: various life long processes of learning undergone by individuals that develops them into adults. It"s important for helping us fit into our own society by teaching norms/values. It looks at central processes that helps us adjust to society.
